Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC)’s managing director Adam Azim states public transport services will be accessible with a simple touch of a smartphone or bank card before the end of this year.
Speaking at the ceremony on Wednesday evening to introduce MTCC’s Raajje Transport Link (RTL) bus service to Hulhumale’ Phase II, Azim said MTCC was committed to utilizing modern technology to improve the quality and convenience of services offered to customers.
Azim said MTCC had trained additional employees to improve the quality of its services, and the 15 new buses brought in to introduce RTI bus service to Hulhumale’ Phase II would reduce the time passengers needed to wait in bus stops.
With the new buses, the number of buses on MTCC’s fleet has increased to 46.
The company has introduced two new routes, which will allow passengers to travel directly to and from Hulhumale’ Phase II, from Alimas Carnival area in Male’ City and Hulhule’ – where the Velana International Airport is located.
The company also plans on increasing the frequency of buses along the West Park-Hulhumale’ Phase II route.
The new buses will be in service on the Alimas Carnival and West Park routes from 05:30 am to 11:30 pm. The buses will come every 20 minutes, and every 15 minutes during rush time.
