Immigration increases service hours due to high demand for passports

Maldives Immigration has announced an extension of its service hours in light of high demand for passports.

Announcing their decision – Immigration underscored that foreign countries easing travel restrictions imposed in light of the COVID-19 pandemic have increased the number of Maldivians traveling abroad.

Stressing that the hike of travelers is more so than forecasted – Immigration said that passport applications submitted to the authority on a daily average has risen up to 800. The figure previously stood at 200.

Therewith, Immigration said that they will be extending service hours until 9:30pm at night, without breaks. In light of this, the authority will be issuing token numbers for passport collection until 3:00pm starting tomorrow.
