Speaker Nasheed: Rumors of Judge Shakeel-JSC President Hisan meeting false

Speaker of the Parliament and former President Mohamed Nasheed on Monday stated that the rumours claiming the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) President Hisan Hussain met with Judge Ahmed Shakeel, who is presiding over the case of former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom were false.

Speaking at the Parliament session, Nasheed said those claims were lies and said that spreading such lies was of no benefit to anyone.

“Speaking such rumours does not create a situation beneficial to anyone.”

Some of the media outlets have reported that Judge Shakeel was summed to JSC late at night, where he was met with Hisan along with JSC member Ibrahim Riffath.

Following this, JSC tweeted branding the claims as false.

“We condemn attempts to smear the commission’s name by spreading false news, and it will be reported to authorities.”
