Sh. Noomara Council has briefed President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on difficulties faced by its residents in using the island’s harbor, requesting the government to accord priority to alleviate these difficulties.
The council made the briefing to President Solih during a meeting held at the President’s Office on Thursday afternoon which saw an extensive discussion between both parties regarding the administration’s developmental goals for the island and its residents.
Sharing the most pressing concerns of Noomara residents with the President – council members highlighted difficulties faced in using the harbor.
Other concerns shared by the council pertained to coastal erosion; space constraints and lack of adequate resources in the school and health centre; waste management; and the need for a new mosque.
The council also expressed gratitude to President Solih and his administration for addressing the health centre’s issues, including constructing an extension building and developing a new classroom block in the school.
They also acknowledged the administration’s commencement of a project to construct a new building for the council secretariat for which the agreement was signed on Thursday.
Meanwhile members of Noomara Women’s Development Committee shared challenges they face in discharging their duties with the President.
After listening to the concerns raised – President Solih briefed the representatives on the latest updates on the developmental projects currently underway and planned for the island. With reference to the concerns raised – he assured them that the administration would seek ways to address them and noted that the administration would accord priority to alleviating the challenges faced in utilizing the harbor.
