B. Hithaadhoo gets new powerhouse after 28 years

B. Hithaadhoo has shut down its old powerhouse – which had powered the island for the last 28 years – and opened a new powerhouse. 

Fenaka Corporation states the old powerhouse was shut down because of lack of capacity to properly service the island. 

The new powerhouse comes with 104.52-square meter office space and 181.16-square meter powerhouse. 

The office space has the reception and admin area, while the powerhouse has a deck room, control room, chimney, workshop and pantry. 

Fenaka states it will be hiring 28 employees for the new powerhouse. 

The new powerhouse is located close to the island’s harbor. 

Fenaka states that the new powerhouse has gensets with the capacity of 400 kilowatts and 160 kilowatts.
