Following a two-year break – National Oratory Competition has kicked off on Tuesday night.
At a special ceremony held for the purpose last night – the National Oratory Competition was inaugurated by special guest, renowned presenter Masood Ali. This year marks the 35th edition of the competition.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Masood advised participants on the best practices to become skilled orators. Students participating in the competition that attended last night’s ceremony showed keen interest in Masood’s speech and expressed their desire to become skilled orators likewise.
During his speech, Masood also extended gratitude for bestowing him the opportunity to inaugurate the competition.
The National Oratory Competition was not held in the past two years over the safety risks posed by COVID-19 pandemic.
Organizer of the event, Dhivehi Language Academy’s Vice President Zulfa Ibrahim told Sun that 120 students from 25 schools are taking part in the competition this year.
Apart from this, 15 students from three higher secondary schools will be taking part in the competition. Three teams have entered the competition in the companies/organizations category as well.
Participants will be delivering their speeches at the meeting hall of Maldives Polytechnic starting this afternoon.
Timings of the competition:
Afternoon: 13:00pm to 15:00pm
Evening: 16:00pm to 18:00pm
Night: 20:00pm to 23:00pm
