Applications for the BML Small Grants fund introduced by the Bank of Maldives for environmental projects is set to close on May 15.

The BML Small Grants fund was launched in March as part of the series of 12 high-impact monthly community initiatives to celebrate the national bank’s 40th anniversary in November.

The BML Small Grants fund is open for NGOs that wish to carry out community-based projects that address environmental issues and promote sustainable development.

Eight projects will be selected to win a grant of MVR 250,000 each.

Community-based NGOs legally registered in the Maldives before December 31, 2021 are eligible to apply for the grant.

BML’s Public Relations Manager Mohamed Saeed said the fund will support projects designed to address environmental issues facing local communities.

“With this assistance, solutions will be provided for environmental issues, sustainable development will be brought to communities, and it will affect positive changes. It is our hope that as many organizations as possible that operate in this field utilize this opportunity,” he said.

Additional information regarding the BML Small Grants fund, as well as application forms, are available on the bank’s website.
