ACC requests recovery of over MVR 1.5M for state from relevant authorities

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has requested the recovery of over MVR 1.5 million for the state from the relevant authorities.

The Commission, from R. Alifushi Council, has requested the recovery of MVR 1,414,560.37 owed to the state as rent payment for land plots leased from R. Alifushi – that has not been paid by the lessees.

They are also requesting Finance Ministry to recover MVR 144,494.65 incurred from the corporate credit card issued to the presidential residence – Mulee’aage – in violation of policies set down on use of the credit card for expenditures in 2007.

Lastly, ACC is requesting HA. Baarah Council to recover MVR 11,759.42 owed to the Council by a private party in connection to an agreement executed between them in 2015.

These are monies to be recovered for the state from cases concluded by the Commission within the past month.

On Monday, ACC publicized their annual report for the year 2021 – showcasing the Commission closed a total of 588 cases throughout the year which is a 38 percent decline compared to the previous year.
