Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has announced that the stock of MVR 20 notes of the Randhiha Faheh (Golden 50) note series reprinted and brought to Maldives last year have been issued into circulation.
The notes were reprinted last year due to a shortage in the current stock. MMA said that the new stock had been stored in the state treasury after it was brought to Maldives.
The notes were released into circulation on Thursday.
The notes, dated 14 Zulqaida 1441, 1 July 2021, were signed by MMA Governor Ali Hashim.
MMA said that the new notes will circulate along with the previous stock.
The MVR 20 stock stored back in 2015 will run out this March, said MMA.
MMA had reprinted MVR 10 and MVR 100 notes of the Randhiha Faheh series due to a shortage in stock back in 2018.
The Randhiha Faheh note series, which boasts enhanced security features and is printed on polymer paper, was introduced on November 1, 2015.
