COVID-19: Maldives records 329 new cases in 24 hours

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Wednesday, announced 329 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 173,666.    

According to HPA, the 329 new cases include; 26 cases from the greater Male’ region, 281 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 14 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 436 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 159,080.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 14,276 active cases.      

There are 6 patients in hospitals.      

1,743 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 350 samples from the greater Male' region.

Maldives has recorded 297 COVID-19 deaths. 

Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country expanded the campaign to begin vaccinating children between 12 years and 17 years of age in August, and began administering booster doses in October. 

As of present, 398,293 people have received their first dose and 371,327 people have been fully vaccinated, and 139,874 have received their booster dose.
