COVID-19: Maldives records 273 new cases in 24 hours

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Tuesday, announced 273 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 173,337.    

According to HPA, the 273 new cases include; 26 cases from the greater Male’ region, 225 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 14 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 410 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 158,644.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 14,383 active cases.      

There are 9 patients in hospitals.      

1,898 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 416 samples from the greater Male' region.

Maldives has recorded 297 COVID-19 deaths. 

Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country expanded the campaign to begin vaccinating children between 12 years and 17 years of age in August, and began administering booster doses in October. 

As of present, 398,281 people have received their first dose and 371,291 people have been fully vaccinated, and 139,228 have received their booster dose.
