COVID-19: Maldives records 306 new cases in 24 hours

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Sunday, announced 306 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 172,576.    

According to HPA, the 306 new cases include; 27 cases from the greater Male’ region, 245 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 22 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 408 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 157,797.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 14,469 active cases.      

There are 8 patients in hospitals.      

1,853 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 403 samples from the greater Male' region.

Maldives has recorded 297 COVID-19 deaths. 

Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country expanded the campaign to begin vaccinating children between 12 years and 17 years of age in August, and began administering booster doses in October. 

As of present, 398,262 people have received their first dose and 371,224 people have been fully vaccinated, and 137,102 have received their booster dose.
