Maldivian students complete the Space Agency’s Junior Astronaut programme run by the Institute of Global Success (IGS).

The 32 students who completed the programme were awarded the Canadian Space Agency’s certificates on Friday, during a special ceremony held at STELCO, by the Chairman of IGS Riffath Mohamed.

Three main modules were taught in the programme held in Male’ and HDh. Kulhudhifushi.

The three main modules overlooked:

-         Space fitness: food and how to maintain eating habits in space

-         Space science and technology

-         Teamwork in space

IGS has provided the opportunity for the students who completed the programme to gain additional training from NASA in the United States.

Currently, IGS is the sole institution in Maldives that works to promote space science in the country, run under the guidance of the KSF Space Foundation.

In November 2020, IGS made history by launching the first space programme in Maldives.
