Maldivian Foreign Ministry has stated that they were discussing with governments of countries neighboring Ukraine, in order to evacuate local students residing in Ukraine to safe areas.

Foreign Ministry’s Communications Director Miuvaan Mohamed told Sun that discussions on evacuating local students in Ukraine were moving forward at a fast pace. He also added that all students in Ukraine are in good health.

On this note, Miuvaan detailed that students residing in dangerous areas in Ukraine have money to spend on essentials such as food and water.

Foreign Ministry has stated that they are closely monitoring the statuses of local students residing at Ukraine in addition to neighboring countries as well.

Reparation of local students at Ukraine commenced on last Friday, with increased fear of war. Although many students have been evacuated to the Maldives in these efforts, there are five students remaining at Kharkiv, Ukraine; one of the cities which were hit by Russian attacks today.

With war having commenced – air travel to Ukraine has been suspended causing major difficulties in evacuating these students to safer areas.
