President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Saturday assured that he would discuss with Island Aviation Services to lower airfare to Madivaru Airport in Lhaviyani Atoll.
Speaking at the event held to hand over 100 housing units in Lh. Naifaru to this island council, President Solih said that he has heard the concerns expressed by the people over the price of tickets to Madivaru Airport, and assured them that he would work towards finding a solution for it.
Currently, the price of a ticket from Velana International airport to Madivau Airport is MVR 1,029.
“God willing, I will discuss with Island Aviation regarding it, and work towards finding a good solution for it in the near future.”
Also speaking at the gathering, the President said that the Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure was working to build 1,575 housing units in 14 islands to tackle the issue of housing faced by Maldivians.
Additionally, acknowledging the difficulties faced by the fishermen of Naifaru, he said that the administration was making a huge investment into the fisheries industry, and spoke about the plans to develop Lh.Felivaru.
“We are exploding MIFCO, increasing facilities to the nearby Felivaru to buy, stock and can fish. This, I believe will be a solution to the difficulties faced by fishermen of Naifaru. As concerns were shared on hardships in obtaining ice, we are working to provide more ice from Felivaru.”
Moreover, the President vowed to expand services provided by L.Atoll Hospital, and bring doctors for lacking specialities. He also added that dialysis will soon be available from the hospital.
