Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Tuesday, announced 1,502 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 153,415.
According to HPA, the 1,502 new cases include; 351 cases from the greater Male’ region, 817 cases from residential islands outside Male’, 163 cases from operational resorts and two cases from liveaboards.
Meanwhile, 1,908 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 136,749.
With the new developments, Maldives now has 16,368 active cases.
There are 62 patients in hospitals.
4,972 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,756 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 20 percent.

Maldives has recorded 285 COVID-19 deaths.
Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country expanded the campaign to begin vaccinating children between 12 years and 17 years of age in August, and began administering booster doses in October.
As of present, 397,826 people have received their first dose and 370,258 people have been fully vaccinated, and 95,048 have received their booster dose.
