Discussions held on establishing an office of Muslim World League in Maldives

Foreign Ministry has stated that discussions have been held on the possibility of the establishment of a representative office of the Muslim World League in the Maldives.

At a joint press conference held at the Foreign Ministry today, as part Muslim World League’s Secretary-General Sheikh Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa’s ongoing official trip to the Maldives – State Minister for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel said that discussions were held on areas to further enhance cooperation between Maldives and Muslim World League.

He detailed this includes discussion on the possibility of the establishment of a representative office of the Muslim World League in the Maldives.

State Minister Khaleel said the enhancing cooperation in counter-terrorism, counter-radicalization and issues related to Islamophobia, empowerment of women and the role of the Muslim World League in addressing these issues.

In addition to this, strengthening cooperation in the field of capacity building and further training of religious scholars, imams and youths were also discussed.

Speaking at the press conference, Secretary-General Al-Issa said that being bestowed the Order of the Dignified Rule of Kalaafaanu has boosted his courage.

He also expressed his content over the fact the many important areas of mutual interest were discussed during his meetings with Maldivian leaders as part of this trip.

Secretary-General Al-Issa particularly stressed the discussions held regarding counter-terrorism, counter-radicalization and issues related to Islamophobia.

In his official trip to the Maldives, Secretary-General Al-Issa has called on the President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Defense Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi. He will also be holding a public lecture tomorrow.
