Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Thursday, announced 1,834 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 145,036.
According to HPA, the 1,834 new cases include; 748 cases from the greater Male’ region, 698 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 65 cases from operational resorts.
Meanwhile, 2,140 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 127,330.
With the new developments, Maldives now has 17,413 active cases.
There are 60 patients in hospitals.
5,657 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 2,542 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 29 percent.
With the 1,834 new infections on Thursday, 16,947 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.

Maldives has recorded 280 COVID-19 deaths.
Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February last year. The country expanded the campaign to begin vaccinating children between 12 years and 17 years of age six months later, in August, and began administering the booster dose the same month.
As of Wednesday, 397,740 people have received their first dose and 370,052 people have been fully vaccinated, and 82,091 have received their booster dose.
