COVID-19: 2,754 new cases; 17,770 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Monday, announced 2,754 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 138,880.     

According to HPA, the 2,754 new cases include; 1,407 cases from the greater Male’ region, 962 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 48 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 2,572additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 120,821.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 17,770 active cases.      

There are 63 patients in hospitals.      

7,852 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 3,725 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 38 percent. 

With the 2,754 new infections on Monday, 18,712 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.  

January 31: 2,754 cases 

January 30: 2,838 cases 

January 29: 2,689 cases 

January 28: 2,510 cases 

January 27: 2,499 cases 

January 26: 2,813 cases 

January 25: 2,609 cases 

Maldives has recorded 276 COVID-19 deaths.
