MTCC inaugurate ‘Hunaru Apprentice Programme 2022’

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on Monday inaugrated the company’s ‘Hunaru Apprentice Programme 2022’.

A press conference was held at MTCC’s head office, where the company’s CEO Adam Azim shared details regarding the programme scheduled to commence during the first quarter of the year.

According to MTCC, the apprentice programme aims to provide different training opportunities for locals within a working environment. MTCC also aims to gain talented and hardworking individuals with work experience for different positions within the company.  

MTCC revealed that the Hunaru programme is divided into two parts, with one being ‘Hunaru Licensing Programme’ and the other ‘Hunaru Technical Skills Programme’. Opportunity for 140 individuals to train will be opened in 2022.

Furthermore, MTCC stated that under this programme, some of the areas of training include welding, marine and tug mechanic work, heavy vehicle operators, tinkers and construction site supervising.

While participants will be trained for a period of three months, each will be granted an allowance of MVR 5,000 and when applicable travel and living allowances, MTCC states.

Moreover, they will have the opportunity to apply for jobs with a salary range of MVR 10,000 to 25,000, after the completion of the programme.

Azim noted that in order to garner the interests of Maldivians, the salaries for some of the jobs have been increased.

“To increase interest, jobs that used to pay only MVR 15,000 now have been increased to about MVR 25,000.”

MTCC plans to hold Open day events for this year’s ‘Hunaru’ programme in Hdh. Kulhudhufushi, L.Fonadhoo, and Male’. Those interested can fillout their applications directly during the open day in addition to applying via MTCC’s website.

 

The company noted that in order to further expand their services, they require many more employees, adding that priority will be granted to women and those with disabilities in hiring.
