Foreign Minister Shahid thanks America for vaccine donation

Minister of Foreign Affairs and the President of the 76th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) thanked the American Secretary of State Antony Blinken and the government of America for donating the COVID-19 vaccine.

In his Tweet, Minister Shahid said that these vaccines will “bolster our efforts to provide booster shots for all Maldivian and assist in our vaccination efforts.”

This new shipment of vaccines contains 210,600 doses of COVAX.

As per American Agency for International Development (USAID) in Maldives, including the latest donation, the country has donated 440,000 does to Maldives.

In addition to vaccines, America has donated emergency equipment worth USD seven million, training programmes, 60 ventilators and 100,000 rapid diagnostic tests.

 

Furthermore, the American government has assisted in programs creating awareness regarding COVID as well as rejuvenating the Maldivian economy.
