Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Wednesday, announced 2,813 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 125,590.
According to HPA, the 2,813 new cases include; 1,273 cases from the greater Male’ region, 974 cases from residential islands outside Male’ and 114 cases from operational resorts.
Meanwhile, 2,805 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 108,632.
With the new developments, Maldives now has 16,673 active cases.
There are 57 patients in hospitals.
7,343 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 3,467 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 37 percent.

Maldives has recorded 272 COVID-19 deaths.
Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country expanded the campaign to begin vaccinating children between 12 years and 17 years of age in August, and began administering booster doses in October.
As of present, 397,483 people have received their first dose and 369,424 people have been fully vaccinated, and 58,936 have received their booster dose.
