COVID-19: 954 new cases; 4,877 active cases

 Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Saturday, announced 954 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 102,372      

According to HPA, the 954 new cases include; 514 cases from the greater Male’ region, 326 cases from residential islands outside Male’, 36 cases from operational resorts, and 6 cases from liveaboards/ 

Meanwhile, 1,958 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 97,217.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 4,877 active cases.      

There are 23 patients in hospitals.      

7,273 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 3,605 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 14 percent. 

With the 954 new infections on Saturday, 4,704 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.  

January 15: 954 cases 

January 14: 967 cases 

January 13: 816 cases 

January 12: 536 cases 

January 11: 593 cases 

January 10: 454 cases 

January 9: 384 cases 

Maldives has recorded 265 COVID-19 deaths.
