Maldives Media Council has engaged in discussions with the Pakistan High Commission in Male’ regarding facilitating training opportunities for Maldivian journalists from Pakistan.
The discussions took place in a meeting on Thursday between Pakistan High Commissioner Vice Admiral (Retired) Ather Mukhtar, Deputy High Commissioner Zulqurnain Ahmad, MMC’s President Shahuban Fahmy, members Ali Hussain, Ibrahim Fauzi, Hussan Sageef, and MCC’s Secretary-General Dr. Ibrahim Sameer.
According to MMC, discussions at the meeting focused on sending Maldivian journalists to Pakistan for training, bringing in experts from Pakistan’s educational institutes to provide training for Maldivian journalists, and holding virtual training programs.
They also discussed facilitating short-term and long-term scholarships for Maldivian journalists.
MMC said that the Pakistan High Commission provided assurance they will work to facilitate training opportunities for Maldivian journalists.
High Commissioner Mukhtar also provided assurance he will work to strengthen cooperation between MMC and the Press Council of Pakistan, and facilitate training programs.
MMC had previously held similar discussions with the Indian High Commission.
