Statistics released by Health Protection Agency (HPA) show there are 12 islands outside the greater Male’ area under monitoring as the year 2022 begins.
The island which has been under monitoring the longest is M. Mulah – which was placed under monitoring in October last year. The other 11 islands were placed under monitoring in December.
ISLANDS UNDER MONITORING
Monitoring mechanism on Addu City – which had been in place since August – was lifted on Friday. Addu – Maldives’ second most populous city – has recorded 11 COVID-19 fatalities.
Maldives has 95,700 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 160 new cases recorded on Friday. 93,127 patients have since recovered, while 262 have died from complications.
The country currently has 2,298 active cases. 18 of the patients are hospitalized.
