Maldives records additional 168 COVID-19 cases in 24 hours

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Monday, announced 168 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 95,032.      

According to HPA, the 168 new cases include; 44 cases from the greater Male’ region, 73 cases from residential islands outside Male’, 50 cases from operational resorts, and 1 case from liveaboards. 

Meanwhile, 121 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 92,679.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 2,079 active cases.      

There are 8 patients in hospitals.      

4,223 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,270 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 3 percent.

Maldives has recorded 261 COVID-19 deaths. 

Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country expanded the campaign to begin vaccinating children between 12 years and 17 years of age in August. 

As of present, 396,635 people have received their first dose and 367,068 people have been fully vaccinated, and 24,710 have received their booster dose.
