President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, in his message on the book of condolences opened in memory of the late Umar Zahir, has stated that late Umar Zahir remained sincere and devoted in his service to the nation – remarkably spanning over 40 years.
President Solih signed the book of condolences opened in memory of the late Umar Zahir – a state dignitary and honoree of the Order of the Distinguished Rule of Izzuddin – on Monday afternoon.
In his message, President Solih described the passing of the late Umar Zahir as a loss to the nation with reference to his remarkable service record spanning over 49 years – significantly contributing to the development and progress of the nation. He added that late Umar Zahir remained sincere and devoted in his service to the nation.
In addition to this, President Solih noted in his message that Umar Zahir oversaw the successful completion of numerous government projects at a time of limited resources.
His message concluded by praying to Almighty Allah (SWT) to grant the late Umar Zahir’s soul eternal peace in Jannah.
Late Umar Zahir passed away on December 20 at Dharumavantha Hospital, after battling with COVID-19. He was 85-years-old at the time of his death.
