COVID-19: 131 new cases; 2,019 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Saturday, announced 131 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 93,864.      

According to HPA, the 313 new cases include; 22 cases from the greater Male’ region, 87 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 22 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 168 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 91,573.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 2,019 active cases.      

There are 15 patients in hospitals.      

4,434 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,212 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 2 percent. 

With the 131 new infections on Saturday, 800 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.  

December 18: 131 cases 

December 17: 104 cases 

December 16: 97 cases 

December 15: 162 cases 

December 14: 124 cases 

December 13: 127 cases 

December 12: 55 cases 

Maldives has recorded 259 COVID-19 deaths.
