Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has decided against continuing the investigation against Dh. Meedhoo Court’s chief magistrate Ali Shafeeq.

JSC had opened investigations into two complaints of negligence lodged against Shafeeq.

The commission decided against continuing the investigation during a meeting on September 29.

JSC said it made the decision based on documents from the court, and medical documents presented to the commission regarding Shafeeq’s health condition.

JSC had opened investigations for misconduct against 17 judges, including Shafeeq, in February.

The commission said it opened the investigation due to violation of circulars issued by the Supreme Court and JSC ensure judicial services go uninterrupted during closure of government offices due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
