COVID-19: 133 new cases; 1,832 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Tuesday, announced 133 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 92,501.      

According to HPA, the 133 new cases include; 30 cases from the greater Male’ region, 102 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 1 case from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 97 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 90,401.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,832 active cases.      

There are 15 patients in hospitals.      

3,986 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,107 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 3 percent. 

With the 133 new infections on Tuesday, 851 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.

Maldives has recorded 255 COVID-19 deaths. 

Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country expanded the campaign to begin vaccinating children between 12 years and 17 years of age in August. 

As of Monday, 396,004 people have received their first dose and 364,814 people have been fully vaccinated, and 16,513 have received their booster dose.
