COVID-19: 116 new cases; 1,739 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Sunday, announced 116 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 92,211.      

According to HPA, the 116 new cases include; 25 cases from the greater Male’ region, 81 cases from residential islands outside Male’, 6 cases from operational resorts, and 4 cases from liveaboards. 

Meanwhile, 102 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 90,205.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,739 active cases.      

There are 19 patients in hospitals.      

4,179 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,135 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 2 percent. 

With the 116 new infections on Sunday, 747 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.  

December 5: 116 cases 

December 4: 102 cases 

December 3: 100 cases 

December 2: 143 cases 

December 1: 100 cases 

November 30: 107 cases 

November 29: 79 cases 

Maldives has recorded 254 COVID-19 deaths.
