Asian Development Bank (ADB) has agreed to provide technical assistance of USD 2.05 million (MVR 31.7 million).
Out of the USD 2.05 million being provided, USD 2 million is a grant extended by the Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction.
The technical assistance agreement was signed by Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer on behalf of the Maldivian Government. Meanwhile, Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives Keiko Yanai signed on behalf of the Japanese Government.
Finance Ministry said that the funds will be used to improve the management of communicable disease outbreaks and pandemic response.
In 2020, ADB decided to extend support and aid provided to the Maldives by five years, under the ADB Country Partnership Strategy (CPS), until the year 2024.
