President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that the research conducted to identify the difficulties faced by teachers working in the education sector will help identify how the implementation of wage increments of teachers can take place.
During a meeting held with a special research group for the purpose, President Solih said that the reasons why people are less interested in pursuing a career in the education sector can also be identified through this research.
He also said that the research will help improve the quality of education provided at schools and the issue of undue influences in schools.
Stressing that the research was one of utmost importance – President Solih said that will aid in the resort efforts focused on increasing the salaries of teachers as well as in capacity building amongst teachers.
President Solih also expressed confidence that the research group would conduct a thorough study.
At today’s meeting, Vice President Faisal Naseem also took part. He highlighted that the research would contribute to the improvement of the education sector by identifying pertinent issues outside of the main objectives of the study.
The main objective of the research is to clearly identify major difficulties faced by the teachers as well the major difficulties faced in the education sector. Another purpose is to conduct an academic research on the issues in the education sector. It also aims to find positive solutions for the problems faced in the education sector.
The research group is comprised of six-members who are experts in different fields, appointed by the President. They are:
