COVID-19: 114 new cases; 1,769 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Sunday, announced 114 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 91,464.      

According to HPA, the 114 new cases include; 25 cases from the greater Male’ region, 73 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 16 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 139 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 89,434.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,769 active cases.      

There are 12 patients in hospitals.      

3,806 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 886 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 3 percent. 

With the 114 new infections on Sunday, 739 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.  

November 28: 114 cases

November 25: 76 cases 

November 24: 102 cases 

November 23: 123 cases 

November 22: 96 cases 

Maldives has recorded 248 COVID-19 deaths. 

Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country expanded the campaign to begin vaccinating children between 12 years and 17 years of age in August. 

As of Saturday, 395,622 people have received their first dose and 363,310 people have been fully vaccinated, and 9,558 have received their booster dose.
