COVID-19: 109 new cases, 84 from atolls

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Thursday, announced 109 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 88,386.

According to HPA, the 109 new cases include; 17 cases from the greater Male’ region, 84 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and eight cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 128 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 86,168.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,961 active cases.      

There are 27 patients in hospitals.      

3,518 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,097 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area has once again decreased to one percent.

Maldives has recorded 244 COVID-19 deaths.
