President, First Lady visit Palestine and Saudi Arabia’s Pavilions at Dubai Expo 2020

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed, on Wednesday night, explored Expo 2020 in Dubai – where they had visited and toured Palestine’s Pavilion and Saud Arabia’s Pavilion.

Upon their arrival at the Palestine Pavilion – President Solih and the First Lady were welcomed by Ambassador of the Consulate General of the State of Palestinians in Dubai Ali M. Younis.

With an aim to shift international perceptions and demonstrate a fresh and vibrant perspective of Palestine – the Pavilion offers a visitor experience with an immersive sensory exploration of Palestine and its people.

President Solih and the First Lady then visited the second largest Pavilion at Expo 2020; being that of Saudi Arabia with a total area of 13,059 square meters. Located in the Opportunity District – the Pavilion’s structure’s creative façade represents Saudi’s unlimited drive, as well as its welcoming character and deep-rooted culture.

Dubai Expo 2020 is a six-month event with over 192 countries from the world taking part. The theme of the Expo is ‘‘Connecting Minds and Creating the Future’, focusing on sustainability, innovation and cooperation from around the world.

The largest Pavilion in the Expo is that of its host country; UAE’s – totaling up to 15,000 square meters.

President Solih and the First Lady are scheduled to conclude their visit to the UAE to attend Expo 2020 sometime today. They were accompanied by a high-level delegation from the government.

The First Lady will return to the Maldives, while the President will travel directly from Dubai to Glasgow, Scotland, to participate in the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26), which will begin in November.
