Maldives Airport Company Limited (MACL) has honored a total of 265 employees for their devotion and loyalty after completing 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 years of continuous service to the company.

The employees were honored at the Retirement and Long Service Award function held at Hulhule’ Island Hotel on Tuesday.

According to MACL, 240 employees were honored for their long service, while 25 employees were honored for their retirement recognizing their dedicated service to the company.

MACL said that the significant number of employees who received awards for their long-time commitment was an achievement not just for the respective employees, but also for the company.

"MACL is extremely fortunate to have employees who have contributed to company’s successes through their many years of dedicated and committed service,” said the company in a statement.

Speaking at the ceremony CEO and Managing Director of MACL, Gordon Andrew Stewart expressed appreciation for the services of the employees.

“We are honored to have such loyal and committed people representing our organization and we appreciate your dedication, significant expertise and invaluable experience,” he said.

He said that the long service awardees should be an inspiration to other colleagues as well as to the young generation.

He also noted that a career in aviation is extremely hard due to the fast-paced and dynamic nature of the sector.

Stewart said that he believes three things are crucial for MACL to thrive; creating a customer focused culture, investing in Human Resources development and setting high standards for quality outputs.

MACL is the largest employer in Maldives with more than 3,400 employees. MACL holds long service award ceremonies annually. However, the ceremony was not held last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
