Parliament passes MVR 90 million budget for Auditor General’s Office

The Parliament, on Wednesday, has passed to allocate a budget of MVR 90 million to the Auditor General’s Office for next year.  

Auditor General’s Office’s budget was passed with vote of 49 members from the 50 members present for the sitting.

Out of the matters included in their budget for next year – the highest number of money was allotted for the new office building that is set to be constructed at Hulhumale’; being MVR 30 million.

Meanwhile, MVR 60.3 million have been allotted for both recurrent expenses and the expenses needed to run the office – whereas MVR 30 million has been allotted for the implantation of Public Sector Investment Programs.

The MVR 90 million budget allocated for the Auditor General’s Office for next year is an increase by nine million compared to that of this year.

In this regard, the Auditor General’s Office was allocated a budget of MVR 81.7 million this year.
