COVID-19: 110 new cases; 1,192 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Tuesday, announced 110 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 85,732.      

According to HPA, the 110 new cases include; 26 cases from the greater Male’ region, 75 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 9 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 122 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 84,292.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,192 active cases.      

There are 13 patients in hospitals.      

3,898 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,228 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 2 percent. 

With the 110 new infections this Tuesday, 534 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.   

October 12: 110 cases 

October 11: 74 cases 

October 10: 83 cases 

October 9: 71 cases 

October 8: 46 cases 

October 7: 70 cases 

October 6: 80 cases 

Maldives has recorded 235 COVID-19 deaths. 

Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country expanded the campaign to begin vaccinating children between 12 years and 17 years of age in August. 

As of Munday, 393,344 people have received their first dose and 347,558 people have been fully vaccinated.
