COVID-19: 71 new cases; 1,264 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Saturday, announced 71 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 85,465.      

According to HPA, the 71 new cases include; 22 cases from the greater Male’ region, 43 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 6 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 145 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 83,954.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,264 active cases.      

There are 13 patients in hospitals.      

3,842 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,355 from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 1 percent. 

With the 71 new infections this Saturday, 494 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.   

October 9: 71 cases 

October 8: 46 cases 

October 7: 70 cases 

October 6: 80 cases 

October 5: 91 cases 

October 4: 65 cases 

October 3: 71 cases 

Maldives has recorded 234 COVID-19 deaths. 

As of Friday, 392,966 people have received their first dose and 345,203 people have been fully vaccinated.
