A COVID-19 patient admitted at Addu Equatorial Hospital has passed away.
Addu Equatorial Hospital said that the patient in question was transferred for further treatment to the hospital from neighboring Fuvahmulah City on September 26 – following rapid deterioration of health.
The hospital confirmed the identity of the latest COVID-19 fatality as a 97-year-old Maldivian man – adding that he passed away at around 07:50 this morning.
His death increases the number of COVID-19 fatalities in the Maldives to 228. It is the fourth COVID-19 related death in Addu City.
During the last 24-hours, Addu City recorded 14 new COVID-19 cases. A total of 1,590 cases have been recorded from Addu City – since the onset of the pandemic.
As per the latest statistics by the Health Protection Agency, 70 additional cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the last 24-hours – increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 85,278.
Meanwhile, 84 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 83,784.
With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,319 active cases.
There are 15 patients being treated at hospitals.
