MACL makes generous donation to Maldives Autism Association

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has provided a generous donation of USD 3,965 to the Maldives Autism Association for the procurement of curriculum and training specialized teachers.

The cheque pertaining to the donation was handed over during a special ceremony held at Hulhumale’ Autism Center – by MACL’s Deputy Chief Officer Ahmed Ibrahim.

Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ismail Shafeeu received the cheque on behalf of the Autism Association.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Dr. Shafeeu highlighted some of the difficulties faced at the Autism Center – which provides special education for children between the ages of 10 and 13.

Some of the main difficulties highlighted by Dr. Shafeeu in this regard is the expenditure exhausted on procuring curriculum from abroad – as well as on training teachers. He also noted the difficulties faced when teachers who get trained by them – take up other opportunities when it comes their way.

MACL’s Deputy Chief Officer Ahmed Ibrahim also spoke at the ceremony. In this regard, he expressed that the Company is proud to have lent even a small helping hand to the hard work that is carried out by the Autism Association.

He also added that MACL’s contribution which directly benefits the students admitted at the Autism Center – is also one that will help build their future.
