Remand of man charged for leaking nude pictures extended by 15 days

Criminal Court has granted a 15-day extension to the remand period of a suspect who has been pressed with charges for leaking nude pictures of multiple women via messaging app Telegram and social media platforms. 

Mohamed Masaid Bin Sameeu, Ma. Ispongege, K. Male’, was remanded in custody of the police for an additional 15 days when presented to the Criminal Court for his remand hearing on Tuesday. 

Masaid is accused of hacking personal accounts of multiple victims, taking nude pictures and videos of them, and leaking them via social media. 

The Prosecutor General’s Office filed 11 charges against Masaid with the Criminal Court on Saturday, September 25. 

THE CHARGES: 

  • Three counts of possession of pornographic material under Section 622 of the Penal Code 
  • Three counts of distribution of pornographic material under Section 622 of the Penal Code 
  • One count of illegal acquisition of information under Section 232 of the Penal Code 
  • One count of attempted illegal acquisition of information under Section 232 of the Penal Code 
  • One count of obstruction of justice under Section 530 of the Penal Code 
  • One count of knowingly taking unauthorized control over the property of another under Section 211 of the Penal Code 
  • One count of criminal trespass under Section 230 of the Penal Code 

Masaid was arrested on August 22 on suspicion of hacking a mobile phone and leaking persona pictures. 

According to the police, he has a prior record for a similar offense.
