Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Sunday, announced 72 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 84,362.
According to HPA, the 72 new cases include; 31 cases from the greater Male’ region, 36 cases from residential islands outside Male’, 4 case from operational resorts, and 1 case from liveaboards.
Meanwhile, 200 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 82,632.
With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,551 active cases.
There are 20 patients in hospitals.
4,632 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,452 from the greater Male' region.
With the 72 new infections this Sunday, 786 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.

Maldives has recorded 231 COVID-19 deaths.
Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country expanded the campaign to begin vaccinating children between 12 years and 17 years of age in August.
As of Saturday, 391,738 people have received their first dose and 335,926 people have been fully vaccinated.
