Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been contracted to implement shore protection projects in Gaadhiffushi and Buruni in Thaa Atoll.
Agreements pertaining to both projects were signed during a special ceremony held at the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure. MTCC’s CEO Adam Azim signed the agreement on behalf of the company – whereas Director-General Fathimath Shaana Farooq signed on behalf of the Ministry.
The shore protection project at Gaadhiffushi is valued at MVR 26.71 million – and must be completed within 282 days.
Work under the project will include the construction of a 500-metre revetment and 15-metre groynes.
The shore protection project a Buruni is valued at MVR 28.87 million – and must be completed within 240 days.
Work under the project will include backfilling and leveling of 21,181.80 cubic meters of sand and the construction of a 369-metre breakwater and 220-metre revetment.
