Finance Ministry has announced its decision to retrieve the mistakenly over-deposited amount from the salaries of 32 health sector workers for the month of August  – by deducting it from September’s salary.

A media official from Finance Ministry had told Sun that the salaries of 1,796 health sector workers were over-deposited – out of which 32 individuals have yet to return the amount deposited in surplus by mistake to the Ministry.

The official also noted that the efforts to pay the remaining sum of the allocated salary for employees who had received less – were well underway.

When the salary for the month of August was deposited to health sector workers – some had received more than their allocated salary, whereas the remaining had received lesser than their allocated salary. Upon noticing this, employees at some of the health centers situated in the atolls had brought the matter to the attention of the authorities. Some were allegedly issued up to MVR 70,000 as their salary by mistake.

Subsequently, the Ministry stressed that all matters pertaining to the issuance of salary has now been arranged in a way that such a mistake can never happen again in the future.
