Civil Service Commission (CSC) has urged all civil servants to refrain from taking part in the activities organized by ‘Dhivehi Civil Servants Association’ – an organization that had recently become active on social media.

In a statement released regarding the ongoing protests staged by civil servants – CSC stated that ‘Dhivehi Civil Servants Association’, which had organized the protest, is unregistered with the relevant government authorities.

“In this regard, ‘Dhivehi Civil Servants Association’ that had recently become active in social media – is not a registered organization. We urge all civil servants to refrain from taking part in activities and following the instructions from such unknown entities,” the statement read.

CSC further stressed that they were working on bringing positive changes to the salaries and allowances of civil servants within the confinements of the law. They also gave assurance that they will fulfill their constitutional obligations.

In concluding their statement – CSC applauded the tireless work done by civil servants and thanked them for it.

‘Dhivehi Civil Servants Association’ had urged all civil servants across the Maldives to wear black whilst reporting to work on Sunday – for a silent protest over multiple concerns. They also directed civil servants to go on strike on Monday if authorities fail to address their concerns.
