Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Wednesday, announced 100 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 82,364.
According to HPA, the 100 new cases include; 40 cases from the greater Male’ region, 50 cases from residential islands outside Male’, 9 cases from operational resorts, and 1 case from a liveaboard.
Meanwhile, 97 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 80,004.
With the new developments, Maldives now has 2,120 active cases.
There are 17 patients in hospitals.
5,318 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,997 from the greater Male' region.

Maldives has recorded 227 COVID-19 deaths.
Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country has also begun vaccinating children above the age of 12 years in August.
On Wednesday, a total of 293 people had gotten their first dose whereas a total of 2,524 people had gotten their second dose.
With these new developments, a total of 386,807 people have received their first dose out of which 308,095 people have completed the second dose.
