COVID-19: 165 new cases, 103 from atolls

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Tuesday, announced 165 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 82,264.      

According to HPA, the 165 new cases include; 51 cases from the greater Male’ region, 103 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 11 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 112 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 79,907.  

With the new developments, Maldives now has 2,117 active cases.      

There are 16 patients in hospitals.      

5,438 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,965 from the greater Male' region.

Maldives has recorded 227 COVID-19 deaths. 

Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February. The country has also begun vaccinating children above the age of 12 years in August.

On Tuesday, a total of 261 people had gotten their first dose whereas a total of 1,606 people had gotten their second dose.

With these new developments, a total of 386,514 people have received their first dose out of which 305,571 people have completed the second dose.
