COVID-19: 152 new cases; 1,730 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Tuesday, announced 152 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 81,112.      

According to HPA, the 152 new cases include; 26 cases from the greater Male’ region, 74 cases from residential islands outside Male’, 48 case from operational resorts, and 4 cases from liveaboards. 

Meanwhile, 131 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 79,143.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,730 active cases.      

There are 22 patients in hospitals.      

4,124 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,054 from the greater Male' region.    

With the 152 new infections this Tuesday, 894 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.   

August 31: 152 cases 

August 30: 169 cases 

August 29: 113 cases 

August 28: 139 cases 

August 27: 103 cases 

August 26: 108 cases 

August 25: 110 cases 

Maldives has recorded 226 COVID-19 deaths. 

Maldives has launched an ambitious campaign to fully vaccinate 90 percent of the eligible population in the country by the end of this August. The country has also begun vaccinating children above the age of 12 years. 

As of Monday, 383,620 people have received their first dose and 302,182 people have been fully vaccinated.
